UNIQUE HOME REMODELING IDEAS FOR YOUR NEXT PARTY

January 5, 2016

You’ve seen the photos on Pinterest. Lately, it seems like everybody has a cooler house than you do. We get it. You bought the nice, two story house in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Maybe you have a home office or a carpeted family room with a fireplace. It’s nice, but nothing about that screams “edgy” or “risk-taker” or “totally hosts the coolest parties on the weekends”. Well, thanks to us, you’re in luck. Break out the vegan hors d’oeuvres and the artisan beer; we’ve got a list of unique home remodeling ideas that’ll be the focal point of your next soiree.

1. WRAP AROUND COUCHES

Not only are they comfortable and stylish, sofas that wrap around your living room area make it easier to walk with your guests. Because let’s face it, you’ve had a rough day, and you just need to put your feet up and relax with a beer and a tiny hot dog on a toothpick.

DESIGNER TIP:

A coffee table with flowers, sculptures, or other accents create the perfect centerpiece for your wrap around couch.

2. OUTDOOR CANOPIES

You just got your new patio, and it’s gorgeous. You want to throw a party outside, but the white hot intensity of the sun will turn everyone into bright, red lobsters. How do you protect your party guests while still having a raging good time? Sunscreen, yeah, I guess, but let’s think bigger. Outdoor canopies! Have your contractor build a canopy structure that is both elegant and practical.

DESIGNER TIP:

Have you ever wanted your backyard to look like a perfume ad or a cheesy romance novel cover? Sheets or curtains on top of and around your canopy can add an ethereal feel to your outdoor living space. You’re welcome, Fabio.

3. BUILD A BAR

Come on. As if we even needed to say it. Your own home bar is the perfect opportunity to get your drink on in the comfort and safety of your own home. You don’t even have to tip the bartender, unless Mom is serving. No tip for her, no clean laundry for a week.

DESIGNER TIP:

What else can we say? Just add alcohol.

4. WINE CELLAR

In the same vein as the last suggestion, a wine rack or wine cellar is the perfect way to get creative with your storage space. Build the rack underneath your kitchen counter space, or build a new shelving unit in the basement. Either way, how cool is it to say, “hey, dude, come check out my wine cellar.”

DESIGNER TIP:

Even if you don’t drink wine, you can use the area to hold knickknacks or other useless stuff you can’t seem to get rid of. Although, “hey, dude, come check out my useless stuff” doesn’t sound as cool.
